Welcome to Perempuan Memimpin!

Women's Empowerment and Leadership Development for Democratisation is a multi-year and multi-country program, led by Shirkat Gah Women's Resource Centre (SG) in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Institute for Women's Empowerment (IWE), based in Hong Kong and Women Living Under Muslim Laws (WLUML), based in London. WELDD is being carried out in 12 developing countries across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East in the years 2012-2015 . This program will reinforce women's leadership to overcome existing challenges.

In the WELDD program, IWE works principally in Indonesia to foster understanding and practice of WELDD’s overall concern for sustainable feminist leadership in 3 thematic contexts:

  • Women in the process of building pluralist and peaceful civil societies.
  • Women advocating the right of women to access and control over agricultural resources.
  • Women advocating the rights of women in the informal sector to safe and healthy work conditions.
